As part of international cooperation with these and other universities, the Department of Software of Computer Systems is an active member of the ongoing NEXT project and has participated in international projects and activities:

The department has its own scientific school dedicated to Methods and Software Tools for Data Processing in Multimedia Technologies, Digital Twins, and Automatic Object Identification. The researchers are actively involved in international projects and activities. Their research directions include:
- Multimedia data processing methods and tools,
- Digital twins technology,
- Automated identification and information processing,
- Full-text information search in computer systems and networks,
- Context-dependent search for multimedia data,
- Data analytics, Big data and Machine learning algorythms,
- Data protection in computer systems and networks,
- Mathematical modeling,
- Compression of multimedia data.
The department includes the Electronic Education Center of Igor Sikorsky KPI, created in cooperation with the Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology as part of the UNDP project “IT Transfer to Ukraine”.
